Bolton u13's v Trafford MV U13's
By Greg Hawkins
Sunday was TMV u13's second Lancashire Cup game in 2 weeks. After a tough draw last week we were away at Bolton. Who have beaten most of the county's top teams in the last 12 months
When we arrived at Bolton we pointed out we were u13 not u16, not realising they make them bigger in Bolton.
From the start it was a true match. Tough, uncompromising and competitive. But yet again we showed heart and skill with some superb back play.
In no particular order we scored three superb tries - a lovely break from Paddy, a fantastic pass from Luke to put Dewi over, and a brilliant run from Dan.
But injuries began to take their toll.
Despite turning round at half time in front we lost Ollie, Sparky, Luke and those left on were putting in a real shift.
It went to 3-3, 3-4 and in the last 5 minutes Bolton ran in another 3 tries as the commitment the boys started taking its toll.
But, despite injuries (it turned out Ollie had broken his arm after an amazing performance) the team never let their heads drop and produced a performance that everyone watching could be proud of.
If we hadn't had the injuries the result could certainly have been different.
The medical support from Bolton was first class.
A disappointing result but another great performance from these boys.
