Useful curtain raiser

Productive run out against a depleted Sedgley Park
A training game runout at Sedgley Park, allowing the 18 travelling players from the U15s plenty of game time against and with a Sedgley Park squad who had just 8 players available on the morning.
The score line read 56-12 in the away side's favour at the end of three periods of rugby.
The first period was a scrappy affair, with players looking rusty and lacking match sharpness and timing, Tom Crilly however started brightly and was soon on the scoresheet and the ribs of the opposition. His tackling was a feature of the morning.
Most of the usual suspects were able to get on the scoresheet too, with Cian, Azzanne, Jacob and Will all looking threatening, and by the 2nd and 3rd periods some of the fluency and pace that took the squad deep into the cup competitions last year was starting to come back, especially when the MV half backs took the ball to the opposition and looked for the potent running threats from the MV pack and centres.
Oli Barrett was unlucky not to get away from a few last ditch tackles, and Jack and Nick O'Leary (making his return to MV colours) both had their kicking boots on, nailing several tricky conversions.
With several players due back to training over the next couple of weeks numbers are good and the signs are promising that this could be another strong season.
