Lymm too strong for U15s
By Richard Culver
Poor performance at Lymm who were ruthless in exposing a patched up backline
A rather meagre squad assembled, half term holidays and some rather questionable navigation meant that at kick off just 15 players were ready.
1 Charlie DS; 2 Charlie H; Ethan; 4 Dan; 5 Azzanne; 6 Yousuf; 7 Will C (Capt); 8 Jacob; 9 Will R; 10 Jack; 11 Matt; 12 Nick; 13 Tom; 14 George; 15 Charlie H
Oli B arrived as the game was 10 minutes old; Alastair travelled but was unable to play due a back injury.
Lymm’s game plan was simple and effective, recognising the size of the MV pack they chose to play a wide game, using as few players as possible in the rucks and quickly moving the ball to their pacey and skilful outside backs. Time and again the rather patched up nature of the MV back line was exposed, and despite regularly shuffling players to see if we could get to grips with the Lymm backs, they ruthlessly exposed some poor tackling and scored frequently.
Tom, Nick and Yousuf were responsible for the best of the away side’s defensive efforts and whilst Dan began to threaten, he was well marshalled by a Lymm defence that whilst called into action infrequently was solid when required. MV had two periods of play that really should have yielded points but poor handling let them down.
A very disappointing morning, collectively and individually this was a poor match for the players on show, and Lymm whilst worthy winners were never made to work too hard to get their scores.
